Online Adoption Education
In addition to our adoption workshops held at Carolina Hope’s office in Greenville, we have recently added a new component to our adoption education: live online education courses. These courses will cover a wide range of topics related to domestic and international adoption: the adoption home study, transracial adoption issues, funding an adoption, open adoptions and more. Go to our Online Education page for details.
Ethiopia Adoption Program!
In James 1:27 Christians are instructed to demonstrate their faith by looking after orphans and widows in their distress. In line with our agency’s mission to aid orphans, Carolina Hope has officially launched an Ethiopia adoption program!
Ethiopia is a beautiful mountainous country, rich in culture and history. Unfortunately, Ethiopia has been devastated by war, drought, and HIV. There are approximately 4-6 million Ethiopian orphans today, creating a huge need for physical support and for adoption. The fees for this program are relatively low, and there are many children of all ages in need of adoption. All children referred for adoption will have medical reports and complete testing for HIV and Hepatitis.
At our February 2008 concert to benefit Ethiopian orphans and adoption, two videos were shown: one featuring footage from an orphanage in Ethiopia, the other featuring John Piper talking about why adoption is “bigger than the universe.” You can watch the videos at our Ethiopia Concert page.
Humanitarian Work in Ethiopia
Even if you do not feel called to adopt an orphan, Carolina Hope has many opportunities for you to support orphans in Ethiopia through orphanage care and group home support. Carolina Hope is also beginning a project to help government-supported children; this program is called Helping Orphans and Promoting Education (HOPE), and Carolina Hope will support 50 orphans each year by providing school supplies and meeting other needs in the community. You can support one or more of these efforts by making a secure online donation or by contacting Carolina Hope to donate by check. If you’d like to donate the money for a particular needed item, go to our Ethiopia Group Home Needs page. You can make a donation (through PayPal) from that page, too.
